Time for some al dente creepypasta! Here’s a short film based on a fairly well-known creepypasta called The Smiling Man. It’s hard to capture that fear that comes from your own imagination, but the film does a goos job of directly translating the story. What do you think?
October 1st First up, remember how I said my wife and I used to celebrate our “dating anniversary” on October 31st? How it coincided with a Misfits Halloween show? Well, here’s something else we also bonded over: Danzig’s “Mother ’93” video. Here’s a fun game to play: Get drunk with a couple of friends and […]
It’s October! Which is my favorite month of the year, for many reasons. In no particular order, they are: 1) My wife and I celebrate our “dating anniversary” on October 31st (coinciding with a Misfits concert and lots of fake blood and fishnets . . . god, was that . . . 12 years ago? […]
I’m incredibly excited to announce that I’ve been given a great opportunity to be a slush reader/proofreader at an independent horror publisher that I’m quite fond of! I don’t know the etiquette of saying whom you read for, so I won’t for now. But suffice to say that I’m quite a fan of their current […]
I have a poem up on the “Parody” website. It’s a lighter verse, but it rhymes, so it’s got that going for it. Check out “Lines on Used Book” at Parody magazine.
The second part of Michael Cisco’s The Divinity Student is up over at Weird Fiction Review. It’s a pretty great site and I’d love to essentially just link everything over there, but I’ll be a bit more restrained and just refer you to it in toto. However, before I take up my new life of restraint, […]
Recently I was fortunate enough to win an e-book copy of Adam Aresty’s novella “Recovery” from the good people at Kraken Press. It’s a brief but enjoyable read. I think the less you know about the details of the plot before you read it, the better. It will suffice to say that this is a […]
The lovely people at Weird Fiction Review are currently serializing Michael Cisco’s The Divinity Student for free. Right now Chapters 1 and 2 are up for your reading enjoyment. I was previously unaware of Dr. Cisco’s work but thankfully I keep a thumb on the fluttering pulse of the weird via select Twitter feeds (@lairdbarron, @undertowpubs […]
I just recently sold my first paying bit of fiction! It’s a flash-fiction horror piece (approx 500 words) and I sold it to Rampant Loon, the fine people behind the Stupefying Stories collection. I was asked to make some edits to the characters’ names, but that’s a topic for another time ( I.e, when I […]
I have an (old) poem up at The Rusty Nail! It was accepted way back in, like, November, but I’m very pleased that it’s finally seeing the light of day. Or night. Well, just read it and see. It’s very much of a piece with my other poem, The Life-Sized, Horizontal. (There should be a […]
